Question Yourself – 2 Nephi 5:27

“Question Yourself” is a series of posts designed to help us “search ourselves” as we search the scriptures by posing follow-up questions to a passage of scripture. I hope you gain more insight about yourself and the gospel as you consider your answers!

~2 Nephi 5:27 (Book of Mormon)~

Context: On the Lord’s warning, Nephi and his followers separate from his brothers after they plot to kill him. The people of Nephi are industrious and prosper.

“And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness.”

Question Yourself: What does it mean to live after the manner of happiness? (reading the entire chapter may inform your answer) How does living after the manner of happiness affect my response to trials and my ability to handle those trials?

  1. I love this category ” Question yourself”!

I I haven’t reread the chapter yet but I think living after the manner of happiness means to live a life filled with doing good. I know that when I am doing good things and serving others I feel happy. Doing the small things every day definitely helps living after the manner of happiness.

  2. Thanks for this post! I just read this chapter yesterday! Would have missed this question myself! :)

    Keep up the inspiring work!
