Question Yourself – D&C 25:11-12

Happy New Year! Hope it’s been a wonderful one thus far.

Each week for the past year or so, I’ve shared an inspirational quote with you here on Feast on the Word as part of my series Quote Wednesday. It’s been a great ride.

And now it’s time to switch things up!

If you’re a regular reader, you’re probably already familiar with my Question Yourself posts, where I pose response questions to a passage of scripture to spark further thought. This year, I am replacing Quote Wednesday with Question Yourself as my weekly feature. Hope you love it!

So, without further ado, here is this week’s Question Yourself:

~Doctrine and Covenants 25:11-12~

Context: In a revelation given to her husband, the Prophet Joseph Smith, the Lord gives Emma Smith personalized instruction.

“And it shall be given thee, also, to make a selection of sacred hymns, as it shall be given thee, which is pleasing unto me, to be had in my church.

For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me, and it shall be answered with a blessing upon their heads.”

Question Yourself: Am I maximizing music as a tool of prayer and as a way to grow my spirituality? How would making a personal equivalent of a “selection of sacred [music]” help me in my daily life?
