Question Yourself – D&C 123:17

~Doctrine and Covenants 123:17~

Context: In this letter to the early members of the church, the Prophet Joseph Smith (who was wrongfully incarcerated in Liberty Jail at the time) gives an important piece of instruction.

Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed.

Question Yourself: Do I cheerfully(!) do all things that lie in my power, or do I expect God to “reveal his arm” without much effort on my part? On the other hand, do I allow God to step in and help me with my needs? How can I become better at standing still, with the utmost assurance as I wait for God’s help, instead of being a frazzled, insecure mess?

  1. I am really enjoying this Question yourself series. You have a great way of providing thought provoking questions. It is something that I look forward to reading each week. Really neat! Thanks for this.
